New Oticon Zeal Hearing Aids Now Available in Beaufort

Oticon Zeal is now available at our Beaufort practice, and it represents a meaningful step forward for people who want a discreet hearing aid without giving up modern features. If you've held off on hearing aids partly because of how they look, Zeal is worth knowing about.

What Makes Oticon Zeal Different?

Zeal sits entirely in the ear canal, making it one of the most discreet hearing aids on the market. Oticon positions it as the world's most discreet, complete hearing aid — and the claim holds up when you look at what's packed into that small size.

Unlike older in-canal styles that required custom impressions and multiple appointments, Zeal can be fit the same day using standard domes. A custom micro-mold option is also available for those who prefer or need it. Oticon reports that Zeal fits binaurally with a dome for 2 out of 3 people, which makes it a realistic option for a wide range of patients.

Sound Quality and AI Processing

Zeal runs on Oticon's Sirius chip — the same platform powering the Oticon Intent — and includes second-generation deep neural network (DNN 2.0) processing. The DNN is always on, trained across millions of real-world sound samples, and delivers up to 6 dB signal-to-noise ratio improvement over an unaided ear.

This matters most in noisy environments like restaurants or family gatherings, where hearing aid users typically struggle the most. Zeal's BrainHearing technology supports the brain's natural sound processing by providing access to all relevant sounds — not just amplifying speech while cutting everything else out.

Rechargeability and Battery Life

Rechargeable in-canal hearing aids used to be rare. Zeal changes that. A full charge provides up to 20 hours of use, and a quick 15-minute charge gives you 4 hours — useful when you're heading out and short on time. The charging case holds enough power for multiple recharges on the go.

Connectivity

Zeal supports Bluetooth LE Audio, allowing direct streaming from iOS and Android devices, hands-free calling, and access to Auracast broadcasts in public venues. A wraparound antenna — which also serves as a retention arm and removal cord — maintains skin contact for a stable wireless connection.

The Oticon Companion app gives you control over volume, programs, and sound settings from your phone.

How We Fit Oticon Zeal in Beaufort

Getting the most from any hearing aid comes down to how well it's programmed for your specific hearing loss. At our practice, we use real ear measurements (REM) to verify that your hearing aids are delivering precisely the right amount of amplification for your ears — not an estimate based on averages. This step is skipped by many providers, but we consider it a standard part of every fitting.

We'll also spend time understanding how you live — the environments you're in most often, the conversations that matter to you — so that the programming reflects your actual needs.

Is Oticon Zeal Right for You?

Zeal is designed for mild to moderately severe hearing loss and fits most ear canals with a standard dome. If your hearing loss is more significant, we'll discuss whether Zeal with a custom mold is an option, or whether another hearing aid would serve you better.

It's a strong choice for people who are new to hearing aids, those who've avoided treatment due to stigma, or current hearing aid users who want something less visible without sacrificing sound quality or connectivity.
